To Read or Not To Read: Is It Really A Question?

Terms of serviceThe Terms of Service, an agreement whose name you’re probably familiar with, but what about the contents of the infamous agreement? Chances are you’ve never even read one line, yet you have probably agreed to the terms multiple times in your Internet tenure.

On Twitter and Facebook in the past eight months, there were over 1,700 individuals who came out and admitted their secret: they don’t read any website or web services terms of service prior to signing up.

Why is this you ask?

Well, complaints included the agreement being too long for starters, while others just flat out didn’t care — they just wanted access to a site or service.

But really, should you care about what you’re potentially agreeing to?

In an ideal world, yes. However, the fact of the matter is that if you want to be on Facebook with your friends, you’ll agree to their terms, as there’s no way for you to negotiate your own terms of service.

Follow the Leader

It’s been a few weeks since your last new Twitter follower and frustration begins to set is as you try to grow your brand. Then begins the search on how to gain more Twitter followers. There are websites dedicated to the problem at hand and for just as little as five dollars, one can gain 1k followers in less than 24 hours! Too good to be true? Maybe. But five dollars can be spared for an extra few followers, especially if that meant looking a little more relevant.

It isn’t Easy being Easy

In recent posts, we discussed what platforms you should be using, why you should be using them and how you should be using them. Surprisingly, that isn’t even half the battle. It is easy to talk the talk, but can you walk the walk?

You start a blog. Put up a cute banner, add a picture or two and add your Twitter feed on the side bar. Now it is time to put the actual content in place. What should I say? How long should my first post be? What are some things I should include? There is only one rule you should remember: less=more. Whether you are starting a business, running a campaign or branding yourself, simplicity is what will grab and hold the attention of the audience you seek in this digital age.

Land of the Free and Home of the iPhone

In a world where staying connected is vital to your everyday life, it’s hard to imagine life without all your apps in the palm of your hand. Go off of Facebook for a few hours and you’re already out of the loop. When your phone is at ten percent you start to panic and sprint to an outlet before your phone powers down. You would be lying if you say you never felt this way, even just a little bit.

But how do you know when it’s time to step away from the smart phone and surrender?
