House of Tweets: And the social value of regularly scheduled programming

Here at Mashwork we have been hearing constant buzz around Netflix’s release of the entire season of House of Cards on February 1st, 2013.  We wanted to fully understand what this “all in one” release meant for conversation over time and how the buzz generated by this show compared to other top TV shows.

We looked at House of Cards, and six other major network TV programs across Twitter to figure out what this strategic move by Netflix really meant for other regularly scheduled TV programs.

Winter Travel Infographic

Winter is in full force and the holiday season is fast approaching. Many people are packing their bags and heading on vacation or off to see their family, and tweeting about it in the process. We were interested in how people were traveling this season, what hotels they will be staying at, and how they are booking their travels. We analyzed over 20,000 tweets to make the following discoveries about travel this season:


Black Friday: Consumer Fact Sheet

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, with Black Friday right on its heels.  We were interested to know what consumers were saying about the biggest shopping day of the year.  We wanted to find out where consumers are going to be shopping, what they plan on buying, and who they are buying for, among other things.  We analyzed over 270,000 opinions to make some interesting discoveries about this year’s Black Friday.

Netflix: The New, New Coke

Netflix, the wall street darling, made a few wrong calls and lost more than half their value in 2 months.  Could it have been avoided?  Could they have seen it coming?

This is scary accurate.  And powerful.  If there’s any case to be made for why brands need to be listening to their consumers, it’s this.  Dig in.
